Take these actions to reduce your risk of getting sick

  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use hand sanitizer between washes, if needed.
  • Avoid crowds, cruise travel, and non-essential airplane flights.
  • Stay 6 feet to 10 feet away from other people.
  • Clean and disinfect your home. Wash down surfaces you touch frequently, like doorknobs, light switches, and sinks.
  • Eat well and get plenty of rest.
  • Stay home if you feel sick.

Nutrition suggestions

  • Stock up on food in case you can’t leave the house for a while.
  • Ask a younger friend or family member in good health to help you.
  • If you must go food shopping, go at times when there won’t be many people in the store. Stop & Shop has announced special hours when its stores are open only for people over age 60.
  • Many Connecticut supermarkets offer home delivery. Consider using services like Peapod by Stop & Shop, ShopRite from Home, or Instacart so you don’t have to leave home.
