Important information for our members

If you feel sick…

Call your primary care provider (PCP) if you are concerned about exposure or risk of the disease. You will not pay any costs toward diagnostic lab tests for coronavirus or visits – to a doctor’s office, urgent care center, or emergency room – where the test is performed or ordered. No preauthorization or referrals are needed.

You can talk to a doctor – at no charge

ConnectiCare members can, temporarily, use telehealth for covered medical and mental health services without paying a deductible, copayment, or coinsurance. Telehealth visits are free for any illness or injury – not just COVID-19. Self-funded employer plans may have different coverage or opt out of this telehealth waiver program.

Members of employer plans, SOLO plans, or plans through Access Health CT:

You can have virtual medical visits from home by:

  • Using MDLIVE to consult with a board-certified doctor.* To arrange a visit, go to mdlive.com/connecticare, download and activate the MDLIVE mobile app, or call 1-888-995-0217 (TTY: 1-800-770-5531). You will first have to register, if you already haven’t.
  • Contacting your primary care provider’s (PCP’s), specialists’, or mental health counselor’s offices and asking for a telehealth visit. The office staff will arrange appointments and instruct you on how to connect with the health care professional. Professionals must be in your plan’s ConnectiCare network for the visit to be free.

Medicare Advantage members:

You can have virtual medical visits from home by:

  • Using Teladoc® to consult with a board-certified doctor.** To arrange a visit, go to teladoc.com/connecticare, download and activate the Teladoc mobile app, or call 1-888-995-0217 (TTY: 1-800-770-5531). You will first have to register, if you already haven’t.
  • Contacting your primary care provider’s (PCP’s), specialists’, or mental health counselor’s offices and asking for a telehealth visit. The office staff will arrange appointments and instruct you on how to connect with the health care professional.
  • Professionals must be in your plan’s ConnectiCare network for the visit to be free.

All cost shares and plan provisions apply for in-person treatment of COVID -19 except members of Massachusetts fully insured plans will have copays temporarily waived.

MDLIVE and Teladoc are available to members with telemedicine benefits in their plan. Check your plan’s benefits. You will need to register first to use telemedicine. It takes only a few minutes.  

Free telemedicine/telehealth visits will continue through May 31, 2020. Please consult your health care providers to see if they can arrange for telehealth visits (not all may be able to). Telehealth is not clinically appropriate for all covered services.

Mental health support is available

You can talk to a mental health professional – at no charge during this emergency.  Go to liveandworkwell.com and sign in (you can register for an account with your ConnectiCare membership). You’ll be able to find local mental health professionals or make appointments for virtual visits.

You can also, for no charge, call the Optum support line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 1-866-342-6892 for help getting connected to caring professionals.

Have medicine supplies on hand with 90-day refills

All members can have prescriptions delivered at home by Express Scripts. Express Scripts will fill 90-day supplies of most maintenance medicines with a doctor’s prescription.***

To start using Express Scripts, visit the website or call them. Have your prescription number(s) ready:

  • Medicare Advantage – 877-866-5828
  • All other plans – 877-866-5798

Are you uninsured? Losing insurance through an employer?

Access Health CT (ACHCT), the Connecticut health insurance marketplace, has announced a new special enrollment period to allow uninsured Connecticut residents to sign up for health insurance. Enrollment runs through Thursday, April 2. Find more information on plans and on how to enroll, visit Access Health CT

Losing health insurance coverage through an employer at any time may also qualify you to buy an individual plan. Find more information and numbers to call for help on chooseconnecticare.com.

**Teladoc is not available to members of the Choice Dual (HMO D-SNP) plan. Those members can contact the ConnectiCare Nurseline at 1-877-489-0963 (TTY: 711) with non-emergency questions. Please check your plan documents for more information. Registration with Teladoc is required but free for qualifying members.

***Note: Most specialty drugs are not available through Express Scripts home delivery and do not qualify for a 90-day supply. For more information about specialty medications, visit our specialty drug page.
