We asked Sarah, ConnectiCare’s certified health education specialist, how to make lunches healthy and tasty.
She recommends thinking beyond the sandwich. “Make enough dinner to set aside a serving for your lunch the next day,” she said. Another great option: “Use your crock pot to cook up a large batch of food, like pulled chicken or turkey chili, and freeze portions in individual containers. All the convenience of a meal from the grocery freezer, but better!”
Die-hard sandwich or salad fan? Sarah suggests skipping the mayo and trying mashed avocado or hummus as your condiment. And for salads, reach for the salsa instead of dressing – yum!
